Timbaland says “No More Producers”

In the Hot97 interview Timbaland says there are no more producers nowadays. I agree, but he ain’t talking about me!!!! LOL!!! He is right in regards to the “producers” that are hot at the moment but there are true producers still out there, you just have to look. Music today is more about image & what’s going on around you than what your music sounds like.
One of the major factors in why there are no more real producers out is because they cost money. Music is only being sold for .99 p/song, streaming revenue isn’t collected properly, if at all, & piracy is still rampant. All these factors and labels & artist start cutting back on album costs. One of the first things to go is Producers & Musicians.

Also, you have the instant fame generation where no one wants to learn the process anymore. They wanna buy a program or an app and be famous. And it blows my mind that that actually works!!! Technology has people believe that they don’t need a real Producer or Musicians, that they can do their job via the software & get same results. Technology gives you a false sense of talent and next thing you know instead of songs being made, you now have a 4 minute 8 bar repetitive loop. You see this most in Hip-Hop & EDM.

What disappoints me the most about Timbalands interview is that an icon such as him, isn’t showing the kids how it’s supposed to be done and teaching a new generation. Instead, he just goes with the new flow of the kids and capitalizes off it. He has the power to change that, I hope he does. Because those 2 rappers he signed are just adding to the garbage dump of artists out there today. Just check their freestyle flow yo…
